So I was taking some pictures of Andie’s playroom, and thought it would be fun to share some of the progress! Technically, this room is supposed to be the dining room in our 1970s fixer, but we aren’t really “dining room people”. I put my table in the open space between our kitchen and family room, and I like it so much more!
Before we moved into this house, this room was one of the 73 rooms that had to be painted.
Here is what it looked like before…
Are you loving the mauve wainscoting and trim (also note the lovely pumpkin colored walls in the living room…going to do a post on this room later)?!
After many, many…MANY coats of white paint, here is what the room looked like right before we moved in….
I used Dolphin Blue by Behr! If you read my post on my Half Bath Update, you’ll see I used this color there as well…I also painted my front door with it (Jordan is basically saying “please stop”)…
It’s such a fun, pretty blue without being overpowering!
When we first moved in, I actually had no idea what we were going to do with this room, but it gradually became the perfect space to house all of Andie’s toys, as well as a little office nook for us.
The great thing about this room is that I can see it from my kitchen and from my living room, so it’s a great spot for Andie to play!
How cute and colorful is it! I have big plans to switch out the 1972 light fixture, but one thing at a time.
I was hunting for a cute way to store toys, and one that made cleaning up pretty easy. We found this white cubby shelf at Bargain Hunt for a whole $12! The week Andie was born, Jordan decided to run to Target to pick up a few things, and came home with these cute baskets for my shelves (after my 27 hour labor, I could have asked him for a new car and he would have come home with one…but I texted him one the other day and his immediate response was “nope”…I missed my opportunity)! How well did he do?!?
This wall used to be filled with pictures of the places we have travelled, but I decided to switch out the photos for pictures of Andie…because she is just so stinking cute…I am going to move my travel photos somewhere else in the house!
I love the way the gold frames look against the blue wall!
Here is our little office nook! Several years ago when I was in NYC for a work trip, Jordan found this antique desk at a consignment shop, gave it a facelift and had it waiting for me when I got home! Swoon. Isn’t it so pretty? It weighs about 423 tons, so it’ll stay in this spot for a while…
Here are some more pictures…
I really love how this room is turning out…and we spend a lot of time in here so I wanted it to be comfortable! Andie quite enjoys this room as well π
Do y’all have any fun ideas for a playroom?! I am always looking for new ways to add some functionality to a space like this!
Until next time!
Lindsey
We are 100% about to do this! Everything has been cleared out and we are buying furniture. Looks good!

Really?! I think it just makes more sense if you have kiddos! You can always turn it back into a dining room later! I bet yours is going to look so great too!
